From Log to Finished Furniture
At Black Forest Sawmill, custom furniture often starts long before the woodworking begins.
We source hardwoods throughout Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, mill the logs, kiln dry the lumber and slabs, and build the finished piece in our Crimora, Virginia woodshop.
Because we're also a sawmill, we have access to unique slabs, figured hardwoods and one-of-a-kind pieces that aren't available through a typical furniture store.

One advantage of working directly with a sawmill is access to our inventory of kiln-dried slabs and hardwoods.
Depending on your project, you may choose from black walnut, maple, cherry, oak and other hardwoods sourced from Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.
